SUFFOLK COUNTY SHERIFF HONORS SOCIAL SERVICE PROFESSIONAL WITH COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AWARD


(Central Islip, NY) On Thursday, November 7, Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. presented the November Community Leadership Award to Demishia Owens, Program Director at EAC Network, in recognition of her outstanding commitment to supporting at-risk youth and families in need.

Demishia Owens, who leads EAC Network’s Alternatives for Youth (AFY) and Home Base PINS (Persons In Need of Supervision) Diversion programs in Suffolk County, as well as the Chance to Advance program for youth in the foster care system, was presented the Sheriff Toulon Community Leadership Award for her ongoing dedication to at-risk youth and impactful work across the county. In her role, she develops and delivers effective interventions for youth facing detention, court involvement, and other support needs.

Each month, Sheriff Toulon presents the Community Leadership Award to recognize Suffolk County residents who go above and beyond to better their communities and provide support to residents in need. 

EAC Network is a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 65,000 people in need across Long Island and New York City. The organization offers over 100 critical programs for at-risk children, families, and seniors, as well as individuals facing challenges with mental health, behavioral issues, or substance use.
