SUFFOLK COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE ILLEGAL HANDICAP PARKING CAMPAIGN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE



(Riverhead, NY) The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office will once again undertake enhanced enforcement aimed at illegal parking in handicap spaces throughout Suffolk County. Effective immediately and through New Year’s Day, all Deputy Sheriffs will be directing additional enforcement efforts to violations of sections 1203-b and 1203-c of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.


Sheriff Toulon stated, “The purpose of this enforcement is to act as a deterrent to the illegal use of handicap parking spots, which creates a particular hardship, especially during the holiday season, for the citizens of Suffolk County who actually have need of such spaces.”


To report illegal parking in handicap parking spaces, please take a photo and send it to SheriffTips@suffolkcountyny.gov.
